I recently read an article on the defieiency of Vitamin D. It stated how everyone in countries like Ireland should be taking Vitamin D supplements as modern lifestyles, gloomy weather, indoor jobs and poor diet have led to a huge deficiency in the ‘Sunshine Vitamin’.
Vitaminin D is essential for the absorption of calcium-which is vital for maintaining healthy bones & teeth. The human body makes most of its Vitamin D from direct sunlight onto the skin. Most people can make enough vitamin D from being out in the sunlight for short periods with their forearms, hands or lower legs uncovered and without sunscreen. Which unfortunately is not ideal or practical here in Ireland with our lack of sunshine. We should always look after our skin in the sun and be careful not to burn by using a high factor sunscreen, as the longer you stay in the sun without sunscreen, the greater your risk of Skin Cancer & Skin damage.
Adults are advised to consume 10micrograms daily of Vitamin D, which is the amount usually found in over-the-counter supplements.
So call in store for your daily dose of Vitamin D 🙂
